Lesotho Sky is a 450km team Mountain Bike Stage Race in Lesotho. With 11500m of climbing in the “Mountain Kingdom” over 6 days, this event will without doubt blow your mind…

Why?

If you want to experience awe, Lesotho’s mountain kingdom is the place to discover a wild new magical world. One really feels as if they are taking the first steps, or cycle tracks rather, into an undiscovered land – a land with no fences and boundless possibilities, a land without limitations, there for you to push your limits.

It is no joke that Lesotho is The Mountain Kingdom – there are a lot of mountains to be tamed! The passes take you over mountains and then even further up into Lesotho’s sky. The roads that they lead you on, like the mountain ranges are endless, but worth the feeling of freedom you are overcome with once you reach the top (or is that just the altitude?) They take you to a world where your only company is the jingling of cow bells and the occasional call from a shepherd.

The only impressions left are those of the goat tracks and cow paths, which might we add make for some awesome technical single track twisting down hillsides and slopes and finally passing through villages where they become a maze of excitement and energy from locals, most of whom have never seen such crazy people on their goat paths let alone on bikes! You are filled not only with that FINALLY I’ve reached the top-feeling but also a sense of awe and knowing something that no one else knows.

Where?

Lesotho Sky 2011 started in the small town of Morija just south of Maseru, the capital of Lesotho. This year the event will start and finish in the university town of Roma – before the route takes you deep into the heart of Lesotho

What you get for your money…

-breakfast, lunch & dinner, race pack & support, transport of luggage, 4 extra tickets to the Sky Braai and party at the Trading Post in Roma after the final stage on Friday, 28th September. The 7th night after the party is included (but optional) – you are welcome to leave relaxed on the Saturday morning.

-A professional timing crew to ensure you don’t lose those valuable seconds…

-The marked route. With GPS guidence (if you have a gps we will load the GPS route on your devise for you). As one of Lesotho sky’s future goals is to have an unmarked route to reduce our waste and impact on the environment.

-Safety vehicles including 4×4 medical support.

-Helicopter medical standby on remote days.

-A daily route briefing with pictures from the days riding.

-Professional photographers and film crew will be there to capture the moments… various applications of the media crews work will be available.

-An experience of a lifetime riding though villages(eagerly awaiting your arrival) and breathtaking roads, single track , goat paths under the watchful eye of the the Maluti Mountains.
